Beth and Ira Rosenthal embarked on a mid-life adventure when they left the East Coast for the rolling hills of Amador County in 2001. Their vision? To plant roots in the form of a vineyard, which blossomed into the comprehensive wine enterprise known today as Uphill Vineyards.

Our Vineyards, Your Experience:

Location: Nestled in the high-elevation terroir of Fiddletown since 2007, our vineyard is the stage for organic estate grapes, both celebrated and obscure.

Wines: We specialize in red varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Primitivo, Tempranillo, Tannat, and occasionally Zinfandel. Our signature TnT blend (Tempranillo/Tannat) has captured hearts far and wide.

Philosophy of Winemaking:

At Uphill Vineyards, we believe exceptional wines start with exceptional fruit. Each vintage is a story of the growing season, where we let the land and the grapes express themselves fully.

Aging Gracefully: Our wines, nurtured at high elevations, require extended time in the barrel, which is both an art and a financial commitment. We believe in patience, allowing our wines to overcome “bottle shock” over one to two years, ensuring each bottle reaches your glass at its peak.

Time is Our Secret Ingredient: Unlike many, we don’t rush our wines to market. They’re aged to perfection in our cellars, ready to drink when we release them, so you don’t have to wait.
